The Austin American-Statesman design writer, Melanie Spencer, wrote a terrific downtown residential development piece that included The Austonian. Published Thursday, June 26th, Melanie asserts that downtown high-rise living is fairly new to Austinites and that projects really have to go the extra mile to help a person imagine themselves living in something that isn’t yet built. Unlike traditional home shopping where buyers are able to walk in and immediately visualize themselves soaking in THAT tub or cooking in THAT kitchen, for prospective high-rise dwellers this experience proves a bit more challenging. For The Austonian, however, the solution was to bring in our interior design team, Gary Lee Partners, to build out a fully finished and furnished 1,000 square-foot model unit. The model uses sample finishes, hardware and even kitchen appliances from the selection available to buyers, but it’s the total warmth of the design that helps prospective buyers imagine themselves living high above Austin.
