Austin Business Journal: Eco-friendly landscaping becoming the norm in Austin
The Austonian was recently featured in an Austin Business Journal article covering the growth of eco-friendly and sustainable landscaping projects in Austin. Citing the project as one of the highest-profile urban landscaping efforts in the Austin area, the article highlights the environmental and aesthetic advantages of The Austonian’s 10th-floor rooftop garden.
Designed by TBG Partners, the 17,000 square foot urban garden at The Austonian will be one of the largest in Texas and will include native plants, an herb garden and a water management system that facilitates the harvesting of rainwater. The lush garden will provide a cooling effect on the space, offsetting the increases in temperature created by downtown’s hard surfaces.
The green features of the garden are complemented by additional 10th-floor amenities: a 75-foot pool with fountains, a hot tub, a reflecting pool, private luxury cabanas complete with flat-screen televisions, a secured dog park, a sun deck, two outdoor kitchens, two outdoor fireplaces and a sunset viewing terrace.
