A Preview of Services Offered at The Austonian

The Austonian recently created a video covering a handful of the specific amenities and services that will be available exclusively to residents when the building opens in summer 2010.

Residents of The Austonian will have access to over 40,000 square feet of private amenities. Services offered include on-site personal trainers from Mecca Gym, spa services including professional massages, facials, and other personal care provided by locally owned and celebrated Milk + Honey spa, and pet services provided by Lofty Dog, Austin Urban Vet and Dirty Dog Wash.

Construction Update: The Austonian Nears the Top

Work on the final levels of The Austonian is underway.

The construction of the floors of the building has surpassed the occupied levels (56th is the highest occupied floor) and reached the mechanical floors that top the 59-story structure). Work is underway on Level 58 and concrete for the roof level, which tops the 59th floor, will be poured in two weeks.

Austin Named One of the Top Ten Places to Buy a Home by ABC News

Again topping the charts as a culturally vibrant and economically viable city, Austin was named one of "The Top Ten Places to Buy a Home" by ABC News. This is in part due to Austin's strong job market and stable housing values. Cities that are state capitals and college towns tend to be more "recession proof" according to Zillow, the online real estate company ited in the report.

The Austonian Construction Story on Fox News

The Austonian was featured in a FOX News story last night about construction milestones and amenities the project will offer when complete in June 2010.

Fox reporter Rudy Koski toured The Austonian with Construction Manager Bob Albanese and Strategic Marketing Director Terry Mitchell. Koski reported that the 59th and final floor of the building will be completed on September 17th, two years after construction on the luxury condo project started. Later this fall, the building will reach its final height of 683 feet when the glass crown is installed, making The Austonian the tallest residential building in the western United States.

A couple of fun facts: 55,000 yards of concrete and 5,000 tons of steel will be used to finish out the project.

Construction Manager Bob Albanese in The Daily Texan

This week The Austonian construction manager Bob Albanese was featured on the front page of The Daily Texan, the student-produced newspaper of the University of Texas at Austin.

In addition to sharing information about his professional experience, which includes previous projects on Frost Bank and the Texas State Capitol, Albanese had a few things to say about growing interest in the tallest residential building in the western United States.

Albanese also addressed the skepticism that luxury condominiums will turn Austin from weird to normal, speaking to the benefits tied to downtown residential development including the creation of jobs and the transformation of the business district into a vibrant neighborhood.

The Austonian Featured in Multi-Housing News Article about Green Building in Austin

This month Multi-Housing News included The Austonian in a story covering green development and design in Austin.

A high-density building, The Austonian is located in downtown Austin. Nearby restaurants, offices and cultural attractions are easily accessed on foot or by bicycle (The Austonian has onsite bicycle storage).

Environmentally-friendly building features include the use of chilled water for cooling (sourced from a central production plant located downtown), the irrigation of the 10th-floor garden with water saved from condensation in the the air conditioning system, and the use of materials including low-VOC paints.

This downtown luxury condo project is pursuing a three-star Energy Star rating, equivalent to a LEED Silver rating.

The Austonian’s 10th-floor Pool Offers an Oasis from Austin’s Summer Heat

As Austin continues to see three-digit weather forecasts, many feel as though we may never escape the high temperatures. There may be no immediate remedy for this season, but Austonian residents will have a great place to cool off during the summer of 2010.

The 10th floor of The Austonian, which is home to the pool area, is a community space designed for entertaining and relaxation for residents and their invited guests. Inside one will find a Billiard and Game Room, theatre screening room, executive meeting room, private guest suites, a spa area and a pet grooming area.

A 75-foot, salt water pool will be the centerpiece of The Lawn, which is the outside area on the 10th floor. The 15-foot wide, 4-foot deep pool is tiled with blue glass and includes a shelf with jets, a lap lane for exercise and an in-water lounge area that seats up to ten people. A heated spa with jets and an in-water seating area is located nearby. The pool is surrounded by lounge areas and a landscape of native plants.

Additional 10th floor amenities include a 600 square-foot dog park, private luxury cabanas, a sundeck, a reflecting pool, fireplaces, a sunset viewing terrace and wireless Internet.
