The Women’s Symphony League Designer Showhouse Offers the First and Only Opportunity to Visit The Austonian

Austoniannn On May 15-16th, the public will have their first and only opportunity to visit The Austonian during the Women Symphony League of Austin’s Designer Showhouse 2010.

The tour will encompass two units designed by members of the local chapters of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and a third unit designed by Showhouse Chair Marla Bommarito-Crouch and The Austonian team. Other elements of the Showhouse include a tour of the extensive indoor and outdoor amenities located on the 10th floor.

Tour goers will enter the building through the lobby on 2ND Street, where large-scale works by local artists Lance Letscher and Roi James adorn the walls. Showhouse attendees will proceed from the lobby to the 10th floor of The Austonian, where their self-guided tour of the Showhouse begins.

During the Showhouse, cooking demos and coffee sampling will take place on the 10th floor, which is a central area in the building designed for outdoor and indoor entertaining. The indoor area is home to a billiard and game room, a 12-seat screening room, a lounge, an executive conference room, guest suites and spa treatment rooms. The outdoor space includes a rooftop garden, reflecting pond with sculpture, saltwater swimming pool and hot tub, eight private cabanas and outdoor kitchens. The 10th floor is also home to an indoor dog grooming area and an outdoor pet park. The 10th floor offers views of the Texas State Capitol, Lady Bird Lake and the Texas Hill Country. After visiting the 10th floor, tour goers will proceed to the 11th floor to view the WSL Showhouse residences.

The three Designer Showhouse units are uniquely designed with different types of homeowners in mind: West Coast transplants looking to leave their suburban home behind for urban living, an art collecting empty-nester couple, and a single female with an eye for contemporary design.
