Caffé Medici Featured in Sky Magazine Profile of Standup Espresso Bars Around the World
Austin-owned Caffé Medici is one of five standup espresso bars included in the January issue of Sky Magazine, which is published by Delta Airlines. Other bars profiled were based in Copenhagen, New York City, Rome, and Venice, Calif.
“Offering pristine long pulls and those fancy froth designs, the baristas at Caffé Medici rival any you’ll find in Italy,” stated the review. “Expect perfectly made lattes, brewed by the café’s knowledge-spouting baristas.”
Locally-owned Caffé Medici will open its third Austin location at The Austonian early this year. Designed by Runa Workshop, the 2,200-square-foot shop includes a mezzanine level overlooking Congress Avenue, an open storefront and a freestanding espresso bar.
For four years, Caffé Medici owner Michael Vaclav and his team of baristas have focused on elevating the art of making espresso and coffee. Managing the process of making coffee from seed to cup, Caffé Medici participates in direct trade, sourcing coffee from Spicewood, Texas-based coffee importer and roaster Cuvee Coffee.
Caffé Medici will be the fourth locally-owned business to open at The Austonian. Second Bar + Kitchen and Congress, two restaurants from La Corsha Restaurant Partners, opened this month, and Berry Austin, a frozen yogurt shop, is expected to open soon.
