Art City Austin is taking place this weekend (April 2nd and 3rd) in downtown Austin. Formerly known as the Austin Fine Arts Festival and Laguna Gloria’s Fiesta, the event includes a juried art sale, local food and music, engaging activities for kids, and art-making demonstrations. The juried art fair includes 190 selected artists from across the nation.
Hours: Saturday, April 2nd from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 3rd 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Location: Cesar Chavez around Austin City Hall (main entrance at Cesar Chavez and Guadalupe)
Art City Austin also marks the opening of “Play Me, I’m Yours” (PMIY), an Art Alliance Austin commissioned project created by international artist Luke Jerram and curated by Austin artist Johnny Walker. Allowing people to engage with, activate and take ownership of their environment via sound and song, the project consists of 15 pianos installed throughout Austin’s urban area. PMIY will be installed throughout the month of April and will end with a special performance involving local art organizations Fusebox and Golden Hornet Project.
Art City Austin and PMIY are produced by Art Alliance Austin.
