Downtown Austin Event: Texas Book Festival
This weekend, more than 250 creative minds will assemble in downtown Austin for the 16th annual Texas Book Festival. Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., come to the area surrounding the Capitol for two days of events and activities. Participating authors include Ernest Cline, Lev Grossman, Colson Whitehead and children’s author Rosemary Wells, among many others.
Tents, booths and exhibitions will be set up along Congress Avenue and the neighboring downtown streets. Must-stop spots include the Info Booths at 12th and Colorado and the Barnes and Noble tent, where all the items to be used at the Book Signing Tent at 10th and Congress must be purchased in order to be signed. Other festival highlights include the E-reader Petting Zoo, the Music Tent and the Cooking Tent.
New to the Book Festival this year is the Lit Crawl, an after-hours event Saturday evening at various East Austin hotspots, where writers will host readings and book signings in an informal setting.
