Austin Parks Foundation’s Cocktails in the Park Festival will take place on Wednesday, September 14th from 7 to 10 p.m. The festival, which features live music, food and drinks, raises money to connect people to resources and partnerships to develop and improve Austin’s parks.

This weekend, September 16-18th, marks the 10th anniversary of the Austin City Limits Music Festival in downtown Austin’s Zilker Park. The three-day festival features 130 bands on eight stages throughout the park. Festival attendees will also enjoy local eats and artists selling their wares. This year’s lineup includes a diverse set of artists, including big names Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, Arcade Fire and Coldplay.
One-day passes for Sunday, as well as tickets to multiple pre-shows and aftershows beginning on September 15th, can still be purchased online at ACL’s website.
This Saturday, the 7th annual Austin Bat Fest takes place on the Congress Avenue Bridge in downtown Austin. The free, family-friendly event begins at 1 p.m. and features live music from 14 bands on two stages, dozens of food vendors and a number of local artisans.
Attendees will gather around 7 p.m. to watch 2 million Mexican Free Tail Bats emerge and take flight from their home under the bridge.

This Friday, Music Under the Star is happening at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. The free performance will features b from the Nash Hernandez Orchestra. Established in Austin in 1949, the Nash Hernandez Orchestra is Austin’s longest-running big band.
The show is from 6-9 p.m. in the plaza in front of the museum. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Paid concessions and free La Sombra Tequila-infused tacos, dessert and Honest Tea will be available while supplies last.
The museum will be free and open to the public during the event. Free parking is available in the museum’s parking garage.

The Paramount Theatre is hosting an acoustic set featuring Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt this evening. Experience Lovett’s versatile, Grammy-winning sound alongside Hiatt’s soulful American folk-rock as they take the Paramount stage together in downtown Austin. The show begins at 8 p.m.
Austin celebrates the 9th annual Keep Austin Weird Fest & 5K this Saturday, June 25. The wacky festival includes psychedelic music, local artisans and a 5K race through downtown with fun stops along the way (including Amy’s Ice Cream). Participants are encouraged to wear their wackiest and weirdest costumes for the “slowest 5K you’ll ever run.”
Keep Austin Weird Fest kicks off with live musical performances by The Daze at 2 p.m., followed by performances from Lost July, Ben Baxter, Suite 709, DEADMAN, and headliner, Alpha Rev.
The race begins at 7 p.m. at The Long Center.

Every Thursday evening this summer, Austin-based composer Erik Johnston will play the piano at Caffé Medici, the downtown coffee shop in the base of The Austonian condo tower. The music will begin around 7 p.m.
The Caffé Medici shop at The Austonian is the third storefront of the locally-owned company. Showcasing the art of the barista, The Austonian location features a freestanding espresso bar.

Today marks the beginning of KGSR’s annual “Blues on the Green” concert series in Zilker Park with Austin favorite, Bob Schneider. Held every other Wednesday evening from now through August 17th, Austin’s longest running free music series will bring local music to attendees starting at 7:30 p.m.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase from six local restaurants. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, dogs (on leash only) and children.
Congress Avenue, known as the main street of Texas (and the first street in Austin), is dotted with significant buildings including the Texas State Capitol and The Paramount Theatre. The theatre, built in 1915, began as a vaudeville theatre known as the Majestic, and was changed to The Paramount in the 1930s when film overcame vaudeville as the entertainment art of choice.
The historically significant Paramount Theatre has thrived over the years and featured noteworthy films and performers including Katherine Hepburn, Willie Nelson, Sarah Bernhardt, Sarah Vaughan, among others. The theatre continues to screen films and is a main attraction during the Austin Film Festival and SXSW.

June 5th marks the first evening of the ninth year of the Hartman Foundation’s “Concerts in the Park” series in the Hartman Concert Park in front of The Long Center City Terrace. Taking place every Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. through August 28th, each weekly concert features a different ensemble of The Austin Symphony.
